About
Dzaleka is a refugee camp in Malawi housing over 60,000 refugees and migrants, predominantly from the DRC.
‘Dzaleka Arts Lab’(DAL) is a collaboration between refugees who live there, the University of the Arts London (UAL), the London College of Fashion (LCF), NGOs, refugee-led organisations and digital art collectives.
The lab's purpose is to experiment with imagination and courage through the life stories of all those involved, connecting these to new opportunities for economic and emotional well-being.
At the core of this project is the intersectionality between the arts, crafts, and digital technology. We have co-created projects to learn new skills in embroidery, film, and design, placing the quality of our relationships centrally to all that we do.
